Product Overview

Oriental Botanicals Femaren 60 Caps

Natural menopause relief. With black cohosh traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to relieve menopausal symptoms plus dong quai, vitex and other herbs.

  • Contains black cohosh and vitex, traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to relieve menopausal symptoms
  • Black cohosh traditionally relieves many common menopausal symptoms, including hot flushes, disturbed sleep, irritability, mood swings and mild rheumatic aches and pains in Western herbal medicine
  • Dong quai is traditionally used in Chinese medicine to relieve menopausal symptoms and to enhance blood health, and therefore to nourish Jing, a form of life force energy that declines with age
  • Also contains other Chinese herbs including horny goat weed, anemarrhena and curculigo plus the Indian herb shatavari

Most women experience menopause between 45 and 55 years of age.

It’s a gradual process that leads to the end of the monthly period, and in turn the reproductive years. The hormones oestrogen and progesterone fluctuate during this time and periods become lighter until they eventually stop.1

Many women experience menopausal symptoms, some of which may include:

  • Hot flushes
  • Poor sleep
  • Irritability
  • Aches and pains1

Black cohosh: traditionally used to relieve menopausal symptoms - Black cohosh relieves a wide range of menopausal symptoms including hot flushes, irritability, mood swingsdisturbed sleep and mild rheumatic aches and pains based on its traditional use in Western herbal medicine.

Dong quai: traditionally used to enhance blood health. As well as being used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to reduce menopausal symptoms, dong quai is a blood tonic that’s traditionally used to invigorate Jing (also known as kidney essence).

According to TCM philosophy, Jing is a form of life force energy that’s stored in the kidneys and declines with age. This is one of the reasons that a healthy kidney organ-meridian system is considered the foundation of good health in Chinese medicine, especially during times of transition between life stages, including menopause.

Vitex: traditionally used to maintain healthy reproductive hormones. Vitex is a herb used in traditional Western herbal medicine during menopause to maintain healthy reproductive hormones.

Relieves a wide range of menopause symptoms, including:

  • Hot flushes and night sweats
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Nervous tension and irritability
  • Reduced sexual interest
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Menstrual irregularity

Oriental Botanicals Femaren is a synergistic blend of Chinese, Western and Ayurvedic herbs specially formulated to relieve the symptoms of menopause.
In clinical research, Black Cohosh has been shown to relieve a wide variety of menopausal symptoms, including hot flushes, excessive perspiration, insomnia, irritability, nervousness, muscle and joint pain, vaginal dryness and sexual disinterest.
In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), hot flushes, mood disturbances, poor sleep and other menopausal symptoms are commonly attributed to an imbalance in Yin (female energy) and Yang (male energy), which often results in conditions characterised by Heat, dryness or restlessness. Oriental Botanicals Femaren contains herbs traditionally used to nourish Yin, strengthen Yang, and clear Heat from the body, including Anemarrhena, Horny Goat Weed and Curculigo.
The Chinese herbs in Femaren have also traditionally been used to address deficient Kidney energy (Jing), a form of life force energy or Qi that is progressively depleted with age, often contributing to menopausal symptoms such as fatigue and lowered libido.

Also present in Femaren are the Western herb Vitex (Chaste Tree), which has traditionally been used to help manage menstrual irregularity, and Shatavari, which is considered the most important revitalising tonic for women in Ayurvedic medicine and supports women’s health during the menopausal transition.
