Nature's Sunshine Slippery Elm 360mg 100 Capsules

Slippery Elm has been used for centres in traditional Western herbal medicine for its demulcent properties. Slippery Elm soothing properties helps relieve mild gastrointestinal tract inflammation. 

Traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to:

  • Relieve mild gastrointestinal tract inflammation
  • Soothes irritated tissues
  • Minimal added excipients

Slippery Elm Bark powder contains mucilage, a gelatinous like substance that reacts with water to form a slippery gel-like substance, when taken orally it expands in the digestive tract and helps provide a protective barrier for irritated gastric mucous membranes. When taken after meals Slippery elm capsules may soothe an irritated or acidic stomach and help relieve the digestive symptoms of heartburn and reflux.

Slippery Elm Bark is rich in nutrients and easy to digest which makes it useful during times of minor digestive discomfort and convalescence, or when only bland food is desired. The inner-bark of the Slippery Elm tree is a native of North America, and was widely used by native Indians and early American settlers for it's soothing and anti-inflammatory qualities.

  • Slippery Elm has nutritive and demulcent properties that have traditionally been used in western herbal medicine to aid in the symptomatic relief of an acidic or irritated stomach, including heartburn, digestive reflux and minor digestive disturbances
  • Slippery Elm powder has a mucilaginous (gummy-like) nature that forms a gel-like layer when in contact with water or liquids and as such may help form a protective coating on irritated mucous membranes in the throat and digestive 
  • Slippery Elm is considered to be a nutritional substance of benefit during convalescence
